Success for Aaron
Foundation Learning student Aaron Uttamlal joined Cardinal Newman last year with the goal of re-sitting his Maths and English GCSEs. He spent his first year settling into College life and forming strong friendships with his peers. This year, alongside his Foundation Learning course, he began attending English and Maths GCSE lessons, at first with a support tutor, but as his confidence grew he attended these lessons independently. He attended extra revision sessions during half term and effectively managed his free periods to study in the lead up to his GCSE Maths exam.
Aaron’s Key Worker, Dan McComb said: “When Aaron came to the office to inform us that he had passed his GCSE Maths with a Grade 4, the look of pure joy and accomplishment on his face was unforgettable. He reached out, shook my hand and turned to all our staff and happily said ‘No more Maths’!
“As a department, we are so very proud of the progress Aaron is making and the exceptional young man he is becoming. With his enthusiasm, determination and contagious positive attitude; Aaron will continue to succeed in all that he applies himself to. Next in his sights are his GCSE English and the further advancement through his Level 2 ICT.”
