Online learning will resume on Monday 1st June 2020
Year 13 students – In light of the guidance from Ofqual, available here, we intend to end formal online lessons from Friday 24th April when we expect the vast majority of Specifications will be complete. Departments will then provide extension tasks aimed at those students who intend to continue the subject at university. The College has a robust plan for the awarding of grades and will ensure that it is claiming grades that are directly in line with our previous high performance and reflect the different ways students get there – including those who put a concerted late effort into their exams. Can I emphasise that the guidance states clearly that students cannot discuss their grades with their teachers.
For BTEC students we are expecting more information shortly and will update all when it is available.
Year 12 students – Lessons will continue after the Easter break online and students should continue to engage with their teachers. We will not hold a formal CAP3 assessment week and will leave any work set to the discretion of teachers. We will however have CAP3 reports in May/June where we will ask teachers to award Teacher Expected Grades and Effort Grades.
The Exams Department work hard to support students throughout the exam process at Cardinal Newman College.
