Step Up to the Challenge
Cardinal Newman College’s Student Union is launching a ‘Step Up to the Challenge’ fundraiser to raise money for the Young Minds Charity. As we start another four weeks of lockdown and gyms are closing, it is more important than ever that our students keep active and moving, not just for their physical health, but for their mental wellbeing also. And that is where this challenge comes in… starting on 16th November they are encouraging students to sign up to the challenge, teaming up with up to six people to achieve the greatest step count over the course of four weeks.
The winning team will receive a prize worth £100 for achieving the highest collective step count at the end of the four-week period. To enter, simply donate at least £2 to the Student Union’s JustGiving page here >> and comment with your team name.
Then your designated team leader needs to email firstname.lastname@example.org with the t numbers of all team members, and confirmation that all members have donated. The aim is to raise as much as possible for Young Minds, who do fantastic work supporting young people who are struggling with mental health issues, which is certainly even more important than ever right now. However, the donating doesn’t need to stop there, please encourage your friends and family to get involved by donating as well!
There are many ways you will then be able to record your steps, from the iPhone health app which automatically records your steps, to one of the several Google health apps which are available to download from the Play store for free. Smart watches such as Apple Watches, Samsung Watches and Fitbits can also be used to track your steps.
Remember to register by the 16th of November in order to take part and then the SU will be in touch with more details. Best of luck!
