Health and Social Care Level 2 Certificate

What is Health & Social Care Level 2?

On the Level 2 Certificate in Health and Social Care, you will get the opportunity to investigate working roles within the health and social care sector and be provided with the underpinning knowledge needed to work effectively with particular focus on safeguarding, human growth and development and equality, diversity and human rights in health and social care. To bring your studies to life, you will complete 2 weeks placement in a health and social care setting and conduct various employability and skills workshops to help secure your future destination. If you want a great foundation to build on before you embark on the Level 3 BTEC course or the T-Level in Health, this Level 2 Certificate gives you the opportunity to develop sound knowledge and skills in the subject, whilst also improving GCSE grades in Maths and/or English alongside if necessary.

What Will You Study in Level 2 Health and Social Care?

As part of the Level 2 in Health and Social Care, you will study the following topics:

  • Human Growth and Development
  • Safeguarding and Protection in Health and Social Care
  • Equality, Diversity and Rights in Health and Social Care
  • Compulsory two-week work experience opportunity within a relevant Health or Social Care setting.

What Next after Completing Health and Social Care Level 2?

We love it when our students progress on to the Level 3 in Health and Social Care or T-Level courses we offer. You may want to carry on with your Health studies, but there is nothing to stop you from looking at the other BTEC courses we offer within the College. Apprenticeships and employment are another avenue to explore after completion of this Level 2 qualification.

This qualification does not provide a licence to practise, but may support progression into a range of job roles in the health and social care sector, including:

• care support workers in adult residential settings
• healthcare assistants in community, primary care and acute health environments
• care support workers in domiciliary services, supported living or day services
• community-based support workers.

What are the Entry Requirements for Health and Social Care Level 2?

At least GCSE grade 4 in English Language or Maths plus three other grade 3s at GCSE.

What is the Course Type for Health and Social Care Level 2?

Level 2 Certificate, equivalent to one GCSE.

What Other Subjects Go Well With Health and Social Care Level 2?

This subject is only studied alongside resits in GCSE English and/or GCSE Maths.

What Enrichment is on offer in this subject?

As part of this course you will have the opportunity to take part in a 2 week placement in a Health and Social Care setting. There are also opportunities to take part in activities such as:
