Fantastic Week of Activities for Art Students

Art students at Cardinal Newman have had a fantastic week following on from their end of year art show last week.

There have been a range of visitors to the department who have really inspired our year 12 students.

Katie Hampson, an artist from Lancashire who specialises in watercolour and mixed media animal portraits and character illustrations, visited today to talk about her work as well as giving a demonstration of mixed media. Katie’s list of clients is very impressive and includes such household names as The Royal British Legion, Guide Dogs for the Blind Association as well as many private clients.

The art department have also been treated this week to visits from past student and artist/printmaker, Alex McIntosh. He provided workshops for many of the year 12 students who thoroughly enjoyed the experience and have learnt a great deal about print and book making.

Finally, the Art Foundation students were given the opportunity to attend workshops run by creative arts course tutors from UCLan. They were also given advice and guidance about progression routes following successful completion of their Foundation degree at Cardinal Newman.
