Cardinal Newman Nominated for Two TES Awards
Every year the TES holds their Further Education Awards, celebrating excellence across the FE sector. The awards which cover a variety of different categories, such as Teacher of the Year and Support for Learners, are an opportunity to celebrate the fantastic contributions to the FE sector.
Cardinal Newman College is delighted to have been nominated for not one but two awards this year. We have been nominated as the Sixth Form College of the Year for the third year in a row, as well as our Principal Nick Burnham being nominated as FE Leader of the Year.
Cardinal Newman College has been shortlisted as one of only six from over 90 Sixth Form Colleges across the country for the 2021 awards. The winner of the Sixth Form College of the Year should epitomise the qualities which makes the sector so distinctive, showcasing quality teaching and learning outcomes, as well as a commitment to sharing good practice and raising achievement across the board.
Principal Nick Burnham said: “I am absolutely delighted that the College has been shortlisted for Sixth Form College of the year again. I have been so proud of how staff have responded to the challenges of the pandemic, they have gone above and beyond for students and as ever the response from our fantastic students has been hugely impressive. On the personal nomination I am equally honoured, but slightly more embarrassed, to be shortlisted in a year when so many Leaders in FE and across education have done such a magnificent job for their students and staff.”
The awards are aimed at celebrating the most outstanding individuals and institutions that the FE sector has to offer have been recognised in the shortlist for the 2021 TES FE Awards.
TES FE editor Stephen Exley said: “Excellent practice exists right across the further education sector, and those shortlisted for the TES FE Awards are the cream of the crop. Our judges were extremely impressed with the calibre of entries.”
