Award Winning Writer!
Cardinal Newman student Louise Gorse has come first in the Screen Writing category for the Lancaster Writing Awards. Louise, who studies A Levels in English Literature, Modern World History, Spanish and an EPQ at Newman, entered the Lancaster University Writing Awards ahead of the Lancaster Words Festival, which takes place between 6th – 8th July.
The category was judged by Tajinder Hayer, who said that Louise’s script: “…ratchets up the tension well and uses the language of film successfully. The dialogue also conveys an authentic sense of dialogue without becoming mannered.”
As part of the prize, Louise’s work will be published in CAKE Magazine, which is their student-run literary magazine, as well as receiving £100 worth of book vouchers. Louise has been invited to receive her prize at the Lancaster Words Festival, where it will be presented by novelist Zen Cho. Congratulations Louise!
