Celebrating Exceptional Sporting Success

Celebrating Exceptional Sporting Success

What a year it has been for Sport at Cardinal Newman College! We are celebrating students excelling both individually and collectively on both regional and national stages and across a range of sports.

Our Academy teams have had a particularly good season, with a plethora of league titles, competition wins, cup winners and finalists for all teams. Particular highlights include League winners for Netball, Basketball and Women’s Football, with Men’s Football claiming the league runners up title.

There was also competition success across the board for Men’s and Women’s Football, Basketball, Netball, Hockey and Rugby, with all teams either making the finals or claiming the title of cup winners!

The College is also particularly proud to recognise a number of students who have earned selection to prestigious AoC National Squads, highlighting the exceptional sporting talent nurtured at Cardinal Newman College. With three netballers, six hockey players and three footballers all making the selection to the highly competitive national sides.

A spokesperson for Sport at Cardinal Newman College said: “We are incredibly proud of the dedication, resilience and talent shown by all of our student athletes this year. Their achievements reflect not only individual excellence, but also the strength of the College’s sporting programme, coaching staff and team spirit. Competing and succeeding at regional and national level is a tremendous accomplishment, and we congratulate every student involved.”

Cardinal Newman College continues to build a reputation for sporting excellence alongside academic achievement, providing students with opportunities to compete at the highest levels while developing teamwork, leadership and personal confidence.
