Musical Theatre was my favourite subject at College, it was such a relief to go into class and be able to sing, dance and act with a group of people who became a family to me by the end of the two years. It was definitely my most exciting class and I always used to look forward to it. It was refreshing to have fantastic teachers too, who I felt truly believed in us.
I studied A Level Drama, Biology and Chemistry – I picked Drama because my dream has always been to work in the performing arts industry. I chose Biology and Chemistry as a back-up plan in case I ever changed my mind.
My best memories were definitely putting shows together (especially the bigger ones that allowed us to collaborate with other performing arts students from both year groups). I’ll never forget the rehearsals leading up to my first end of year show and seeing everything put together and being in absolute awe!
I am now going into my final year of studying Drama, Theatre and Performance at Lancaster University. I am also a freelance performer and have been lucky to perform at large events such as the Trafford Centre parades, Missguided’s Christmas party, Kym Marsh Archie’s Footprint Ball and James Milner’s annual charity ball to name a few! I also work in children’s entertainment, entertaining at birthday parties and venues such as Thornton Hall Farm, Cheshire Ice-cream Farm, Southport Pleasureland and landed my first ever professional contract performing at Barton Grange.
I love university, although I must admit my favourite part is definitely the social life! At uni there are also lots of societies you can join where you meet so many new people. I also enjoy the independence and the experience of living with friends.
I hope to continue my journey in Performing Arts, as it is something I love. University has opened my mind to so many other aspects of the industry too, which I am keen to explore. Another thing that has sparked an interest in me is event planning and is something I hope that one day, I can possibly have my own business in!
