Tom Takes on Three Peaks for Mind

Here at Cardinal Newman we are well known for our charitable efforts, with students getting involved in a whole host of activities for a wide range of worthy causes. But it is not just our students that go above and beyond for charity, staff are also regularly taking part in challenges and arranging activities both at College and in their own free time. One such example is Tom Walsh, who is part of the Finance Team at Cardinal Newman.

On Saturday 7th October, Tom took part in the Yorkshire three peaks challenge, climbing all three of the highest mountains in Yorkshire in just 11hours, 11 minutes and 21 seconds!

The walk takes in Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough and is a total of 24.5 miles, which must be completed in under 12 hours. Tom, who completed the challenge to raise money for mental health charity, Mind couldn’t have timed it much better as today (Tuesday 10th October) marks Mental Health Awareness Day.

Other activities taking place at the College today to support Mental Health Awareness Day include a cake sale run by the Student Union, with all proceeds going to the Mental Health Foundation.

Keep up all the good work team Newman!
