Success for College Design Student

The Digital Photography and Graphics department at Cardinal Newman College are celebrating once again, as a design student from the College has been selected as a finalist in the National Design Museum’s annual competition. Evie Satterthwaite (St Bede’s, Lytham) was selected as a finalist in this prestigious competition for her work: “A Wayfinding System Based on the Themes of Surprise and Disruption.”

Each year, the National Design Museum sets a competition for students studying design courses across the UK. In direct response to the museum’s 2014 Designers in Residence exhibition, entrants were encouraged to consider how design can surprise us and change the way things are seen and experienced. Students could choose from four design briefs relating to the theme and develop final concept proposals.

All students studying A2 Graphics enter the competition each year, alongside thousands of students from across the country. A number of finalists are then selected and invited down to London for the awards ceremony. Head of Digital Photography, Cheryl Glover said: “We are pleased to announce that Evie was invited down to London and was a runner up in the competition. Evie is a committed student, whose dedication, hard work, commitment and overwhelming creative talent has been recognised by the Design Museum. We couldn’t be more proud, well done Evie!”
