Your Guide to Enrolment

Our Guide to Enrolment will answer all the questions you might have about starting as a student at Cardinal Newman College.

What should I do when I get my results?

You should have received an enrolment appointment through the post, telling you what time you need to arrive at Cardinal Newman. You will need to report to the St Augustine’s building and bring with you your GCSE results and some form of identification like your passport or birth certificate. If you haven’t received an appointment please give us a call on 01772 460 181.

What will happen at enrolment?

When you arrive you will be welcomed by the Schools’ Liaison Team who will direct you where to go from there. You will have the opportunity to discuss your options and any changes that you might want to make to your courses with a member of the enrolment team before making your final choice about what to study. If you have uploaded your picture and pre-arranged your travel passes you will be able to collect this and your College ID badge before attending a short welcome talk from the Pastoral team.

I haven’t sorted my transport out – what do I do?

Don’t panic! Our student services team will be on hand to sort all your travel queries and can arrange travel passes on the day. But if you would like to discuss travel before the day, please give student services a call on 01772 460 181.

What if I haven’t uploaded a photo?

You can have your photograph taken and the team will then upload this and create your college badge whilst you are at enrolment.

What should I do if I don’t get the grades I was hoping for?

Try not to worry, although it is disappointing, don’t be disheartened. We are here to help, so please still attend your enrolment appointment and we will discuss your options and find an alternative programme of study for you.

I haven’t applied to Newman, but I would like to study here in September, what can I do?

Give us a call! Call 01772 460 181 and ask to speak to a member of the Admissions Team, or email and we will help you to get your place at Cardinal Newman.

What if I can’t make my enrolment appointment?

We can reschedule your appointment, so please call the MIS team on 01772 460 181 to change the date/time of your appointment.

What happens after I have enrolled?

You will receive an email confirming the subjects that you have enrolled onto. You will be able to login to the Newman Portal from 30th August to view your timetable. You will then begin college following your new timetable on Monday 2nd September.

I’ve changed my mind about what I enrolled onto, can I change my choices?

Don’t worry, if you are unhappy with any of the choices that you made at enrolment, we now offer something called Newman Extra, which gives you the chance to try out subjects that you are considering changing to, before committing to a course change. We hope that this will enable everyone to be on the right programme of study for them.

When do I start College?

College will start for all Year 12 pupils on Monday 2nd September. Year 13 students will return on Wednesday 4th September.
