The Creative Media Practice BTEC involves developing the skills needed to plan and produce film and Television. You will have the opportunity to develop your practical production skills. You will gain experience in the planning and research which takes place in pre-production. Additionally, you will develop the production era skills needed to film for TV and film, including camera work, lighting, production design, and sound design. As well as post-production skills such as editing, motion graphics, and sound effects, and evaluation skills needed in post-production. In addition to these skills, the course provides learners with the skills needed to critically evaluate their work, in progress, in order to produce the best possible production.
Your work for this course will focus on these key areas: Forming ideas, Problem-solving, technical skills, professional practice and communication – all of the key skills required for working in a professional industry environment. You will use these skills to plan and produce effective film and tv productions ranging from short films, and music videos, to television adverts, and documentaries. In addition to this, in the second year, you will be given the opportunity to work for real clients producing advertisements and promotional videos.
A BTEC in Creative Media Practice will allow you to study for a degree or other Higher Education course in the following subjects: Film Production, Television production, and media production. Completing this course will also give you the opportunity to create a show-reel. This can be used to show to future employers or help you to progress onto Higher Education. You will also be able to study other courses such as Business and ICT.
At least five 4s at GCSE, including at least a 4 in GCSE English Language or Maths.
