BTEC Travel & Tourism is a qualification that is highly valued by the travel industry because of the knowledge and skills that are gained during the two year course. It tells potential employers that you have well-developed research skills, excellent time management skills, that you are able to work in a team to achieve set goals, meet deadlines and that you have the necessary ‘people’ skills to manage others effectively.
You will be encouraged to develop a range of skills that you will require for a managerial career in the future, through a range of varied and interesting projects which are tailored to match your interests and ambitions.
You will also have the opportunity to complete a relevant work experience placement and we have many links with local employers who value the high calibre of the students we send out to them. This may lead to potential employment in the future.
In the first year, you will begin by learning about the business of Travel & Tourism and the breadth of opportunity within the industry. You will then complete a range of diverse units that include: Customer Service and Selling Skills, Marketing Travel & Tourism, Event Management, Public Relations and Promotion, Planning Holidays, UK Tourism, Work Experience, Planning Entertainment Events, Cruise Sector skills and Hospitality Management.
Students can go directly to university after studying with us. Popular courses include International Tourism Management and International Hospitality Management but our students also apply to other courses such as Business Management and Modern Foreign Languages.
Or you may wish to go on to study further apprenticeships or go directly into employment. Destinations in the past two years have included companies such as Whitbread, Gold Medal Travel, Marriott International, TUI and Thomas Cook.
At least five 4s at GCSE, including at least a 4 in GCSE English Language.
BTEC Extended Diploma, BTEC Diploma and BTEC Subsidiary Diploma.
