You can choose one of the following sessions to take part in as part of your Newman Festival Experience:

The HE* Programme

If you are aiming high in your GCSEs this summer, you may be eligible for the HE* programme – find out more about the programme and what it can do for you.

Extended Project Qualification

An Extended Project Qualification is an opportunity to gain you extra UCAS points for University through an additional qualification. Worth half an A Level, an EPQ gives you the chance to choose the topic in an independently lead project. Find out more about EPQs and how they can benefit you.


Are you a high flyer with ambitions to apply to a top university? If you have considered applying to Oxford or Cambridge, find out more about the Cambridge University Hub for Lancashire run in conjunction with Cambridge University and how it can help you to realise your ambitions.

Are you feeling a bit nervous about starting College? This session aims to put your mind at ease and help to prepare you for your start to College life.

ASPIRE – Mindset for Excellence

The aim of this session is to explore and share the secrets of ‘coaching’ to develop the characteristics, habits and mindsets which will help you realise your full potential.

Newman Active Workshop

Put your practical skills to the test and challenge yourself and your peers with this active Newman session.

Performance Showcase – Live Show

Are you a budding performer, or do you just love live theatre? Watch a live performance from our Performing Arts department.

Medical Society

Are you a budding Doctor, Dentist or Vet? We want to give you the best chance of gaining a place on one of these competitive degree courses – find out more and how to join.

My Future, My Choice

If you are thinking about your future and want to ensure that you have everything you need to get you where you want to be (even if you don’t know where that is just yet!) join us for a fun look at the ways in which our fantastic Careers team can help you on your way.

If you have had enough of plastic pollution and want to become a force for change, why not join us in our protest group and be the change you want to see!

Dogs from Preston Trick Dogs will be putting on a display in our Library, where you can meet some of their furry friends and see some of the amazing tricks that have learned.
