Newman Beginnings

Here at Newman we have been working hard to create something special for our students, so that they can be completely prepared and ready for the start of College.

Newman Beginnings is a platform created specifically for students who are currently in Year 11 but have applied to start at Newman in September. We wanted a way for them to engage with their new teachers and classmates, whilst having the chance to access a range of tasks, questions, discussions and debates related to the subjects they have chosen.

Each department is working hard to create content for Year 11s to access, with new information and activities being added all the time to keep students engaged and informed as well as helping them to feel fully prepared for the challenge of Sixth Form study!

It is also a great way for to connect with their new teachers and classmates, giving them a direct channel to ask all those subject specific questions that may have been bubbling away while stuck at home.

The information shared ranges from subject to subject, with many offering links to interesting resources, like Biology sharing Ocean School, which is great for students who are interested in Biodiversity or Film studies, who have set the challenge for students to watch and review a film.
