At Newman, you’ll be able to develop your interests in Chemistry. You will cover the core areas of Chemistry, including developing your practical skills, the foundations of Chemistry, the periodic table and energy, core organic chemistry, physical chemistry, as well as organic chemistry and analysis.
Throughout the course, you will be able to develop knowledge, competence and confidence in practical skills and problem solving. You will learn how society makes decisions about scientific issues and how sciences contribute to the success of the economy and society.
Student success in the Chemistry Department at Cardinal Newman is excellent. This course can act as a route for some fantastic career opportunities in the areas of Science, Medicine and Engineering. In addition to studying a Chemistry degree, Chemistry A Level allows you to progress onto university to study courses such as Pharmacy, Medicine, Veterinary Science, Chemical Engineering, Forensic Science and Environmental Science to name a few.
At least two 5s and three 4s at GCSE, including at least a 6 in GCSE Maths and at least a 6 in both GCSE Core and Additional Science, or a 6 in GCSE Chemistry and one other GCSE Science.
