Newman Day 2017
Friday 24th November was the annual celebration of Newman Day. A special day set aside when students and staff at Cardinal Newman come together to enjoy all that is special in our College community.
Normal timetable is suspended for the day so that students can enjoy the wealth of activities on offer. Our special guests included speakers, charity representatives and community groups who educate and entertain the students with workshops, presentations and interactive activities.
During lunch there was a wide variety of stalls in the Exhibition Hall selling food, gifts and cards.
Library staff held a tombola and raffle in aid of the Rwamagana School of Nursing and Midwifery in Rwanda, which raised an impressive £155. The money raised has meant that the school can organise a Christmas party for the children in the community, buy coats and shoes for them, as well as contributing towards a new toilet block for the students.
Our Newman Active Team joined in the celebrations by transforming the sports hall into a fun fair complete with inflatable obstacle course, Velcro Wall, Footpool and Sumo Suits!
We warmly thank all our guests for joining us to celebrate.
