Future “Soccer” Star

Cardinal Newman Student Junayd Vorajee is heading across the pond to chase his dream of becoming a professional goalkeeper.

Junayd, who has just finished studying a BTEC Extended Diploma in Sport, has won a place at the Michael Johnson Performance Camp in Dallas, USA. He was one of only a handful of talented youngsters who was chosen to take part in this six-month training development programme with FC Dallas.

The 17-year-old from Frenchwood, Preston, hopes the trip across the pond will make all his dreams come true. He said: β€œI was an overweight kid and I only came to goalkeeping late. Now I have an unbelievable opportunity to achieve my dream of becoming the first British Indian professional goalkeeper.”

We wish Junayd all the best with his budding career as a professional goalkeeper!
