Dance Duo Bound for London

Newman Student Jessica Reid and Former student David Corr have earned themselves a place at a prestigious dance festival in London this summer.

The duo represented DanceSyndrome, a Dance Company which provides inclusive dance opportunities for people with and without learning disabilities, at the U Dance Festival in March at The Lowry, Manchester. They performed a stunning contemporary dance duet entitled ‘Los(T)’ and were one of only sixteen performances to be chosen to represent the North West at the national festival which takes place in London in July 2019.

Jessica is currently studying in the Foundation Learning Department at Cardinal Newman, which David also previously studied. DanceSyndrome is a dance company founded in 2009 by Jen Blackwell, who has Downs Syndrome and wanted to follow her dream of being a dancer and a dance leader. Their dance activity is led and informed by people with learning disabilities and aims to allow all people to follow their passion for dance, whether they have a disability or not.

U Dance showcases the best dance groups from all over the country, with a wide range of performances, whilst giving young people the opportunity to take part in workshops and masterclasses with dance industry professionals.

Congratulations to Jessica and David and good luck in London!
