CRY fundraiser – Cake Sale and Football Tournament
Every week in the UK at least 12 young people die of undiagnosed heart conditions. Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) works to reduce the frequency of Young Sudden Cardiac Death (YSCD). CRY supports young people diagnosed with potentially life-threatening cardiac conditions and offers bereavement support to families affected by YSCD.
Anyone willing to help please bring cakes to Chaplaincy on Friday!

Christmas cards for the Holy Land
At Christmas we sing ‘O Little Town of Bethlehem’, but as you know, the situation in that town, and the rest of the West Bank and Gaza, is far from still and peaceful, as the carol describes. Christmas cards give us a simple but effective way to offer to Christians in the Holy Land, our encouragement, support and prayers. They feel isolated and frightened. Knowing that we have not forgotten them is very important to them. So this Christmas, we are inviting you to send a Christmas card to a Christian Church in the Holy Land.
We have names and addresses and slips bearing a Christmas greeting in both Arabic and English to put inside your card. We were told that last year the cards were used to decorate the walls of their churches. We will be writing cards in the Chaplaincy room at lunchtime on Thursday 27th November – please feel free to join us.
Tuesday 2nd December
Advent Vigil
We would like to invite you, your family and your friends to our Advent Vigil which takes place in the College chapel on 2nd December at 6.30 pm; the Vigil is a quiet Service of prayer and reflection with the opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation for those who wish.
Join us for festive refreshments afterwards and shop in peace at our Fairtrade gift stall and also gifts from Jireh Women, with jewellery and crafts from around the world, creating hope for the women of Africa, India and Romania.
“Let us do good”
Advent is a time which gives the opportunity for us as a college community to reach out and be of service to the local community and to “do good”. We would like to do this in a few ways and need your help!
Thursday 11th December
Our annual Christmas Party for our local elderly
We expect about 60 local elderly folk and we like to give everyone a small hamper; we need lots of raffle / bingo prizes & non-perishable food items to make up the hampers. Our guests really look forward to this event and any donations would be most welcome.
Please drop off your donations to Chaplaincy. Let me know if you would like to help in the preparations or on the day! Thank you.
Friday the 12th December
Save the Children – Christmas Jumper Appeal
Staff and students are invited to wear a festive jumper and give a donation to support “Save the Children” – they do much good work with children at home and abroad. Try tinselling up any jumper or decorating with Christmas crackers, snowflakes etc.! Please join in and encourage your friends as well! We hope to have a photo opportunity in the exhibition hall so that you and your friends can have a festive photo (Santa hats provided!), a Christmas open mike session (let James Cruickshanks know if you would like to be involved) and stalls to get your Christmas shopping e.g. Fairtrade, Body Shop (discounted prices ) and more!
Mission Christmas
Thousands of children in poverty will wake up to a Christmas without presents this year. That’s why Rock FM Cash for Kids has launched Mission Christmas and we will be supporting it again this year. We’re looking for new & unwrapped gifts suitable for children & young people aged up to 18 years; gifts that will be given to a disadvantaged child to make their Christmas morning that little bit brighter. Please bring donations along to chaplaincy at any time.
Sunday 14th December
Carol Service at St Wilfrid’s
The annual Carol Service with the College Choir will be held on Sunday 14th December at 6:30pm at St Wilfrid’s Preston; this is a wonderful celebration and it would be great to see many of you and your families there. We hope that you will join us for some festive refreshments afterwards.
Tuesday 16th December
