College Update – Summer Term
Message from the Principal for Students and Parents – April 2021
Welcome back, I hope you all managed to have a break over Easter. This message is to outline our plans for this term and to explain when we will be back to face to face teaching full time.
We are really happy with how our blended timetable has worked this year and one of its key benefits has been to minimise the number of students needing to isolate due to being in contact with someone with Covid.
In order to minimise the number of students isolating during a key period for assessments, we will stay with the current arrangements until Thursday 13th May and from that date all lessons will be on site and all students can attend for exams or revisions sessions as appropriate.
We have extended the term so that Year 12 students will now finish on Friday 2nd July and return for the new academic year on Thursday 2nd September.
All new key dates are below:
Wednesday 12th May: Year 13 CAP5 assessments and study leave begin
Thursday 13th May: Year 12 return – Face to face lessons full time (Curriculum Plus remains online)
Friday 2nd July: Year 12 – Term ends
Tuesday 10th August: Results Day
Thursday 2nd September: Academic Year begins for new Year 13
For our current Year 13 students, College is finalising plans with Lancaster University and University of Central Lancashire to provide a suite of online sessions aimed at providing Cardinal Newman College Year 13 students with advice and guidance on how to prepare to study for the range of degree courses provided by both institutions. This will begin after the CAP5 period, more information will be available shortly.
If you need any help and support over this term then please ask a member of staff and we will always do our best for you.
