Cardinal Newman University Courses Given the Seal of Approval by QAA

Staff and students at Cardinal Newman College in Preston are celebrating after receiving a glowing report for their University course offering.

Having launched Foundation Degree courses in Teaching & Learning Support and Early Years in 2014, the College opened its doors to the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA), an independent body entrusted with monitoring and advising on, standards and quality in UK higher education, for the first time in 2016.

We are pleased to report that the findings were all positive, with QAA identifying many areas of good practice within the College’s University courses, stating that the College has a collection of ‘arrangements that enable each student to develop their academic, personal and professional potential’.  The College also has a ‘proactive approach’ to learning resources which enhances student learning opportunities.

The report comes as a great endorsement for the courses, which offer students the opportunity to gain a foundation degree whilst still working. The courses are very student centred, with the content and support tailored to students’ individual needs, which is helped by small class sizes and one-to-one support, which gives learners the confidence to fully develop and reach their potential.

Cardinal Newman College offers Foundation Degrees in Teaching & Learning Support and Early Years, which is completed on a part-time basis in 100 hours contact time over the course of two years.
