British Indoor Athletics Championships

Cardinal Newman student Jasmine Carey has been selected to compete in the pole vault at the British Indoor Championships in Glasgow.

The competition, which takes place at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow on 22nd and 23rd February, sees the best athletes from across the UK competing for National titles. The competition will take place over two days with events ranging from 60m hurdles and 1500m to shot put and long jump.

Jasmine has been pole-vaulting for 5 years, since she tried it at a sports camp and discovered she loved it. She had a background in gymnastics and enjoyed the acrobatic nature of the sport. She has represented England twice as an under 17 and was ranked as no. 47 in the world in the Under 18 category.

After finishing College, Jasmine hopes to secure a sporting scholarship to a university in America, so that she can continue to compete at a high level, whilst pursuing her studies.

We wish her the best of luck at the Indoor Championships!
