Boohoo to Launch a New Line Designed by Former Student
Sameera Mohmed, who is currently in her final year of a Fashion Design Degree at UCLan, has designed a sustainable fashion collection which will be created and sold by Boohoo.
In partnership with Graduate Fashion Week, the international fashion brand launched a competition to find a student designer to create a sustainable clothing range. Sameera created a four-outfit collection, which will form the basis for her new spring/summer range to be launched at this year’s Graduate Fashion Week catwalk in June. The five-day event will showcase the very best designers from up-and-coming students from around the world.
Sameera, now 20 uses recycled polyester, linen and nylon and creates designs for women who want to wear modest fashion that can be styled in whichever way the customer feels comfortable.
Sameera said: “I am over the moon to be given this opportunity and I’m sure I’ll feel very emotional when I see my collection on the Graduate Fashion Week catwalk. It’s the first time I’ve entered a competition, but I knew it was time to put myself out there and see what I could produce. I saw a gap in the market around modest fashion and it also provided an opportunity to reflect my own beliefs through my designs.”
