Biologists Take Top Prize

Four Biology students from Cardinal Newman College were celebrating at the end of term after winning the annual North West round of the Royal Society of Biology’s competition.

Josie Coffey (Kirkham), Katie Dewison (Longridge), Matthew Murray (Our Lady’s) and Solomon Kamran, competed against 22 other colleges at UCLan, in a range of Biology related activities, which saw them applying the knowledge they have learnt during their A Level Biology lessons, to claim the top prize!

As well as each winning individual prizes, the group of Biologists also won a microscope for the College’s Biology department. Head of Biology, Anne Warner said: “We hadn’t anticipated winning, we told the students just to go along and enjoy the experience. We are absolutely thrilled that they came in first place and are very proud of their achievement!”
