Aspiring Career Opportunities Week
During the last week of February the Directorate for Sport, Health and Performing Arts at College held Aspiring Careers days where guest speakers came to College to talk to students about their chosen career.
Health & Social Care had Helen and Andrea who are occupational therapists at Preston Royal Hospital and they talked about their roles and the different cases they come across when caring for people who are suffering from life shortening diseases, strokes and cancer.
Former Cardinal Newman Student, Charlotte Salisbury, who graduated from Huddersfield University and is now a Band 6 Physiotherapist at Preston Royal, discussed with students her role at the hospital working with Out Patients.
Throughout the Sport department students got the opportunity to hear from professionals in the fields of: Physiotherapy, Personal Training, Armed forces, as well as hearing from guests from Virgin Active with regards to careers in the Leisure Industry, Sports Performance Analysis at UCLan and also Sporting Scholarships based in the USA.
The week is an excellent opportunity provided to the students which gives them the chance to find out more about the careers they could enter into after leaving college. There are many careers students may not be aware of, therefore, events like this are vital in giving our students the best insight into what is out there and what different careers can involve.
