We are looking for approachable, self-motivated students with great communication skills to join the Student Mentor Team.
Student mentors in college can be identified by an orange lanyard. They have a pastoral role in college, supporting our students. Student mentors are the eyes and ears of the college on a daily basis. They also help out at the college marketing events (virtual or in person) such as Taster days, Newman Festival, Open Days, Interview Evenings and charity days such as mindful March and Show Racism the Red Card events.
A massive part of being a student mentor is supporting our new Y12 students throughout their induction process and their first few months at college, thus student mentors are required to be on site for the two Y12 induction days on Tuesday 31st August and Wednesday 1st September 2021 to help out. In addition, Student Mentors act as buddies to our new Y12 students throughout their first year at Newman, offering peer support as and when it is needed through our Student Mentor Buddy Scheme.
Being a Student Mentor at college will also benefit you! It is your opportunity to get involved in your college community, help out and have an important presence in college. It will look great on future CVs, apprenticeship applications and UCAS personal statements.
If you would like to apply to be a student mentor please complete the application form and return it to email@example.com by 12 noon on Friday 11th June 2021 for consideration. All sections of the form are to be completed and signed, including the marketing consent form on the last page.
Please be aware that, should your application be successful, you MUST attend a training session on Wednesday 23rd June 2021 at 9:30am via Teams. This will include an element of safeguarding training.
If you have any questions about the role or would like to know more information, please contact Lauren McMullan via email firstname.lastname@example.org
We look forward to welcoming you to the team!
