27 in 27 Challenge

This March, Mind Charity is challenging people to run 27 miles over 27 days, in solidarity with every student struggling with their mental health.

Newman student Aliya Corkindale has taken up this challenge in an effort to raise money for the charity, despite not being a runner ordinarily. Starting on 1st March, her plan is to run at least 27 miles over the course of the 27 days but says she will not be limited to 27 miles and hopes to maybe run a little further than one mile each day.

She said: “As I don’t normally run, I expect it will be a tough challenge, but if it goes well I hope to continue with it as a hobby after the challenge has finished.”

Aliya feels that it is important for students to feel heard and seen when it comes to their mental health. Many people fight against their own mental health issues and no one should feel like their issues are not important or bad enough to be able to seek help, which is why she is undertaking the challenge and hoping to raise at least £127.

If you would like to donate to Aliya’s challenge, please visit https://givepenny.com/aliyacorkindale_27_27 to give what you can.

Good luck Aliya!!
