Important Information for Parents

At Cardinal Newman College, we believe that parents/guardians play an important role in students’ success, which is why we seek to involve you wherever possible.

Throughout the course of the academic year, you are invited into College on a number of occasions to discuss your child’s progress and future aspirations.

We also ensure that parents are kept up to date with their child’s progress with progress reports, which are issued twice a year, showing predicted grades and effort grades for all subjects.

We view College as a stepping stone between school and university, or the wider world of work, so we endeavour to resolve any concerns with the student directly, however, we will of course contact parents if we feel it is necessary. You can also arrange to speak to or meet with your child’s Achievement Tutor, Senior Tutor or subject teachers at any time if you have any concerns about your child.

As part of our Careers week in March, you are also invited to attend the HE/Progression Fair to find out more about your child’s options after they leave Cardinal Newman.

The College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people within the ethos and context of its mission. We fully recognise the contribution the College can make to protect and support students. We recognise that high self-esteem, confidence, peer support and clear lines of communication with trusted adults helps all students, and especially those at risk of suffering abuse.

Attendance data and timetables (including exam timetables) are available to you by signing in to CEDAR. You should have received details along with your username and password in September. If you have lost or not received your details you can contact us to request details to be re-sent.
