Class of 2015 – Outstanding results once again!
There are celebrations all round at Cardinal Newman College this week, as staff and students received another set of outstanding A Level and BTEC results. The class of 2015 achieved a fantastic 100% A Level pass rate with an amazing 70% of students achieving high grades*! BTEC students are also celebrating after 18 courses achieved 100% high grades – so it’s no wonder that over a quarter of all students at Cardinal Newman choose to study a BTEC course as part of their programme of study.
The results top off a fantastic year for the College, which has seen Cardinal Newman ranked in the top 2% of all College’s nationally and the top College locally for value added. Arguably the most important measure, this compares the GCSE scores that students achieve, with the A Level or BTEC results that they leave with, judging the progress a student has made during their time at College. Our results for Value Added are consistently in the top 2%, which proves that Newman really is a College for all, no matter what your GCSE results, you will make outstanding progress at Cardinal Newman.
Cardinal Newman College is the only Cambridge University Hub for Lancashire, a programme that has proved to be a huge success, as this year the number of students who have been offered places at Russell Group Universities has risen from 260 in 2013/14, to 324 in 2014/15. This means that more than 33% of all university places offered to Newman students were at one of the UK’s top 24 (Russell Group) Universities. We have also had an outstanding 12 students being offered places at either Oxford or Cambridge this year – our best year yet!
Principal Nick Burnham said: “Today’s results are a testament to the hard work and dedication of the students and staff at Cardinal Newman! We are immensely proud of all that the class of 2015 have achieved and wish them the best of luck in the future.”
